Kuzmina of Slovakia GOLD women's 7.5km biathlon


Slovakia's Anastasiya Kuzmina became the first woman to successfully defend the Winter Olympics biathlon 7.5km sprint title by storming to gold.

Kuzmina, 29, clocked a time of 21 minutes 6.8 seconds to finish nearly 20 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.


Russia's Olga Vilukhina took silver, with Vita Semerenko of Ukraine claiming the bronze medal.


There was no medal for either of the pre-Games favourites, with Darya Domracheva ninth and Tora Berger 10th.


Great Britain's Amanda Lightfoot, who had been targeting a top-30 place, finished 75th.
