Tour De France 2015 Stage 13

Team Sky's Chris Froome finished sixth in stage 13 of the Tour de France to hold on to the yellow jersey as Greg van Avermaet took victory.

The Belgian held off Slovakia's Peter Sagan on the line to win the 198.5km leg from Muret to Rodez.

Early breakaway riders Thomas de Gendt, Wilco Kelderman and Cyril Gautier were caught with 200 metres remaining.

Britain's Froome remains two minutes 52 seconds ahead of second-placed Tejay van Garderen.

American Van Garderen finished 10th after the steep climb to the finish, but he and rival Froome were both given times seven seconds behind the winner.

Belgian De Gendt, Dutchman Kelderman and France's Gautier were agonisingly close to turning their attack into a stage win, having led the field for the whole day.

But the final incline allowed the peloton to catch them with BMC rider Van Avermaet finishing stronger than Sagan, who has not won a Tour stage in two years.
